How Often Should You Change Your Oil
The typical recommendation for a Synthetic Blend oil change for our hot, dusty, climate in the Phoenix valley is every 3,000 miles whereas a Full Synthetic oil change service should be changed between 5,000 – 6,000 miles.
Oil change intervals vary based on the specific manufacturer’s requirements of oil weight and quantity used. At Sun Devil Auto, we follow all manufacturer’s suggested intervals.
Oil is used to lubricate the engine, absorb heat, and keep internal parts working efficiently. With time and use engine oil starts to break down and needs to be replaced with fresh, clean oil to protect the engine.
Warning Signs You Need An Oil Change
Most cars today have an oil change reminder that will indicate the oil is due to be changed. These algorithm indicators rely mostly on mileage and lack sensors to detect the quality of the oil. Most cars do not have a system of indicating when you are past due for an oil change service.
Here are some warning signs that may suggest you need an oil change:
- Check engine or oil pressure light
- Dark, dirty oil
- Engine noise or knocking sound
- Excessive mileage since last oil change
How Sun Devil Auto Oil Changes Work
Sun Devil Auto prides itself on a smooth and comprehensive procedure. We begin the process by moving the vehicle into one of our designated service bays where we are able to lift the car to begin the service and inspection process. Each Technician begins the service with a 2-page inspection report. This report is a checklist of components to check to identify any current concerns or maintenance that may be needed at the time or that will be needed in the future.
During this service, the Technician will drain spent oil from the vehicle and remove the oil filter. The Technician will replace the engine oil filter, add new oil, and perform a chassis lube where applicable. Vehicle fluids will be checked and topped off including windshield washer solvent. Lastly, the tires will be rotated when necessary.
Sun Devil Auto strives to use only Premium Engine Oils and Fluids provided by Valvoline. We carry a full line of Valvoline Fluids including Synthetic Blend Oils, Full Synthetic Oils, and manufacturer specified Transmission and drivetrain fluids suitable for servicing all makes and models of cars and light trucks.
